A Calm, Thoughtfully Guided Newborn Experience
Your newborn session shouldn’t feel like one more thing you have to figure out.
Before your session, you’ll receive everything you need to prepare, including my newborn prep and wardrobe guide. When you arrive, we’ll move at your baby’s pace, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing and snuggling whenever needed.
You don’t need to know how to pose, what to do with your hands or how to get your baby to cooperate. That’s my job.
My goal is for you to leave your session surprised by just how easy it felt and with photographs that preserve exactly how tiny and loved your baby was in these first few weeks.
Your Baby Sets the Pace
Babies don’t follow schedules, and I never expect them to.
Full newborn sessions allow plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, soothing and cuddles. If your baby needs a break, we take one. If it takes a little longer to settle into that sleepy stage, that’s completely okay.
With more than 13 years of experience photographing newborns and families, I’ve learned that some of the most beautiful sessions happen when we simply slow down and let baby lead.

I recommend reserving your newborn session during your second or early third trimester, so I can make sure there is room on my calendar around your due date. Because babies rarely arrive exactly when expected, we’ll use your due date as a placeholder and finalize the session date once your baby arrives.

Newborn sessions are typically photographed during the first few weeks after birth, when babies are still extra sleepy and naturally curl into those sweet newborn poses. That said, every baby is different. If your baby is already a little older, reach out. I can still create beautiful newborn portraits.
That’s completely okay. Newborns run the show! Full sessions allow plenty of time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes and cuddles, and we’ll work at your baby’s pace rather than forcing a schedule.
Yes. I have a curated collection of wraps, blankets and styling pieces available for your newborn session, so you don’t need to arrive with a car full of things. Before your session, I’ll also send you a preparation guide so you’ll know exactly what to bring.
Yes. Parent and sibling portraits are included with the Signature and Heirloom Newborn Sessions. The Petite Newborn Session is designed specifically for baby-only portraits.
Keep it simple. Soft neutrals, subtle textures and timeless pieces photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your baby and your family’s connection. You’ll receive my newborn wardrobe guide before your session, and I’m happy to help with outfit choices.
The Petite Session lasts approximately 45 minutes. Signature and Heirloom newborn sessions typically last 2–3 hours, giving us plenty of time to stop for feeding, soothing and cuddles whenever your baby needs them.
Newborn photography sessions take place in my studio in Elgin, Illinois, conveniently located for families throughout the western and northwest Chicago suburbs, including St. Charles, Geneva, South Elgin, Huntley and Barrington.
Your professionally edited newborn gallery will be delivered through a private online gallery approximately 2–3 weeks after your session. Depending on your collection, you’ll be able to select your included images or download your complete gallery.
