Why You’ll Love Downtown Geneva

Downtown Geneva offers the perfect mix of historic charm and polished urban style. Its brick storefronts, colorful seasonal flowers, decorative streetlights, tucked-away courtyards, and beautiful architecture create plenty of variety without requiring us to travel far between locations.

The area feels sophisticated without looking overly formal, making it especially popular for senior portraits, couples, small families, and branding sessions. Geneva’s historic downtown is known for its independent boutiques, restaurants, restored storefronts, and Victorian buildings along Third Street.

Session Tips

  • Weekday evenings are best for avoiding the busiest downtown crowds.
  • Comfortable shoes are recommended because we will walk between several different backgrounds.
  • Bring a second pair of shoes when your session outfit includes heels.
  • Neutral colors, denim, earth tones, and dressier outfits all work well against the brick buildings.
  • Senior clients can bring a second outfit so we can create both casual and more polished portraits.
  • Avoid clothing with busy patterns or large logos, which can compete with the detailed downtown backgrounds.

Things to Know

Downtown Geneva is an active shopping and dining district, so we will be working around pedestrians, parked vehicles, restaurant guests, and storefront activity. Weekends and evenings during festivals or special events can become especially busy.

Most downtown public parking is free, although certain spaces have posted time limits and the commuter parking areas near the train station may charge a fee.

Because storefront displays, flowers, construction, and seasonal decorations change throughout the year, the exact backgrounds used during your session may vary. We will choose the areas with the best lighting and least distracting activity on the day of your session.
